For larger organisations, Template profiles provide central control. The head office team configures Scribe once, and that configuration is pushed to every user — ensuring consistent quality, compliance, and data standards across multiple offices and hundreds of valuations per week. Individual users can’t make configuration changes that would compromise data quality, but they can still apply property-specific overrides in Calculation Mode when genuine exceptions arise.
Why We Built Scribe the Way We Did
The platform didn’t start as a software company’s idea of what valuers might need. Our founder, Darrell Cann, is a civil engineer and property valuer who spent years using the available sketching tools across Australia and the UK. What to Look for When Evaluating Tools
If you’re considering different options for property valuer software, the feature lists can start to blur together. Most platforms will claim to handle sketching and area calculation. The differences that matter in practice are more specific.
Ask how wall thickness is handled. If the tool draws single lines and leaves you to manually adjust area calculations based on which side of the line represents the wall face, that’s a red flag. Genuine 3D modelling with configurable wall thickness removes this as a source of error and saves time on every sketch.
Ask about measurement standards. The tool should support RICS, IPMS, ANSI, and PCA standards natively, not as afterthoughts or workarounds. The calculation rules for each standard should be configurable through a profile system, not hard-coded into the application where you can’t verify or adjust them.
